Who is the Bar Exam Doctor?

The Bar Exam Doctor is Todd Stevenson. He is a well-known practicing attorney with an office located in the San Fernando Valley (Los Angeles County) and the founder of Stevenson Law Office www.stevensonlawoffice.com.  He is a licensed attorney and has an MBA and MA Education from Pepperdine University. He currently runs a successful law practice focusing on trust and estate litigation, probate, conservatorships, estate planning for smaller and mid-sized estates, general business, and business litigation.  When not busy running his law firm, he finds time to tutor multiple students for each California Bar Exam www.californialawtutor.com. He has been tutoring and coaching repeat takers for the California Bar Exam since 2005 and has been grading essays for students since 1999.

What makes the Bar Exam Doctor different from other bar reviews?

Who will grade my exam?

The performance exams are graded by highly experienced licensed California attorneys. We like to call them our in-house physicians (keep up the hard work, Dr. Laura!) We are very open to telling our students about our service and our staff. There’s no time to keep secrets or play games. At Bar Exam Doctor, we strive to only accept applications to become a grader or tutor from the most qualified individuals. Some of the qualifications we require include: (1) the individual graduated at the top 15% of their graduating class; (2) the individual graduated from a top tier law school and; (3) the individual has prior teaching/tutoring experience for the California Bar Exam – specifically the Performance Exam. In addition, to these qualifications, we put our graders through rigorous training to ensure the highest quality is provided for our students. Some of our graders have even personally graded for the California Bar Exam, the attorney specialist exam, Barbi Exams, and taught for nearby LSAT programs.

Where do the performance exams come from?

At Bar Exam Doctor, we strive to make an individual’s practice experience as real as possible! All of the performance exams have been provided to us directly from the California Bar Examiners – a bar review must obtain special permission from the California Bar Examiners to use past exams.

Is the Performance Exam Simulator similar to the software program (Examsoft) used on the Bar Exam?

As you may know most the bar exam candidates type their exams using a software program (Examsoft). In order to help a student have a similar experience, we at Bar Exam Doctor, along with the help of a team of highly experienced computer programmers and website designers designed and created a special patent pending online program (Performance Exam Simulator) that allows a student do an entire Performance Exam online! Our database is presently loaded with over 15 past California Bar Exam performance exams. When taking their exam online, a student can review the file and library on their computer screen. A student can even choose what type of exam they want to take – a letter, memo, or motion – check out the demo.There is no better way for a student to focus on their weaknesses!

How soon will I get my answer graded and returned?

At Bar Exam Doctor, we try our best to get the student’s exam back to them within 72 hours from the time of completion of the exam. How is this possible? We have a staff (and continue to accept applications) of very qualified individuals who will grade your exam during all days of the week! We want to make sure that our students get the feedback they need and in enough time to finish their practice pack of performance exams.

I’ve heard you can’t prepare for the Performance Exam, is this true?

This is purely a myth. We feel strongly that you can and should study for the Performance Exam. We are amazed how many full bar review courses overlook this section of the exam. A student must know that they should provide adequate time and effort to this section. It should not be overlooked or taken lightly. However, with the right preparation, it can be conquered!
